Ministry of Health in Bogotá, Colombia increased care at home and by teleconsultation for patients with COVID-19

The city of Bogotá is at its fourth peak of COVID-19 contagion, since the beginning of the pandemic. The arrival of the omicron variant has increased the need for medical consultations in health services, for which the Ministry of Health has implemented new strategies to offer timely care to the population.

In this sense, the Ministry of Health expanded the number of teams for home care services for emergencies and teleconsultation. Through line 123, people who require it will be attended by health professionals.

This strategy aims to be a filter so that people who do not require hospital care remain at home and receive remote medical care by teleconsultation or home care. And in this way not to saturate services and avoid crowds.

In this way, Bogotá would have up to 62 teleconsultation teams, with the capacity to attend more than 2,500 consultations per week; and 90 home care teams that can carry out more than 1,500 patient care at their homes.

Likewise, through line 123, citizens can access rapid diagnostic services for COVID-19 and receive instructions on how to deal with the disease when there are no serious symptoms.
