Hospital in Peru offers 15 medical specialties through telemedicine

The Goyeneche Hospital, located in the city of Arequipa in Peru, has made available 15 medical specialties that will provide service through telemedicine.

The Goyeneche Hospital will start providing consultations in 15 medical specialties through its telemedicine service, with the objective of attending the population in the temporary closure of medical offices due to the pandemic.

The health authorities of Arequipa and the hospital's directors announced that, as of May 24, the hospital would suspend face-to-face care to prevent the spread of COVID-19, following the increase in confirmed cases during the last week in Arequipa. They also announced that consultations would be carried out through telemedicine.

The following specialties are available: anesthesiology, endocrinology, cardiology, neurology, gynecology, internal medicine, otorhinolaryngology, oncology, ophthalmology, pediatrics, intensive care medicine, psychology, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation.

All appointments are made through telemedicine, either by video call or telephone calls, so that patients do not need to travel to the hospital and avoid crowds.

The oncology area will continue to operate normally.
