On an official statement, HIMSS announced that they are planning a special digital edition of the event.
Following multiple statements about the event risk of being cancelled due to coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, on Monday, March 9, they announced that the event would be held digitally using new technologies. This was what they made known on their website (https://www.himssconference.org).
On March 5, HIMSS announced that the event would be canceled due to health emergency. Hal Wolf HIMSS president and CEO said that ““Based on evaluation of evolving circumstances and coordination with an external advisory panel of medical professionals to support evidence-based decision making, it is clear that it would be an unacceptable risk to bring so many thousands of people together next week”.
However, on March 9, they announced that they are currently working on a digital version of the event that has been held for 58 consecutive years.
For those already registered to HIMSS 20, they will have access to HIMSS 20 Digital and will be automatically registered to HIMSS 21 in Las Vegas, next year.
On the statement they ask to the registered professionals to complete a form about the sessions they are more interested about. In this way, HIMSS will work to provide a complete digital experience.
