Physicians in Hidalgo, Mexico receive distance training

The Secretary of Health of Hidalgo is carrying out a tele-education strategy for doctors of the state health system through the course called: Hospital-to-Hospital Reinforcing Concepts in SARS-CoV-2.

The Secretary of Health of Hidalgo (SSH) is promoting a strategy to keep health personnel informed about COVID-19. In response to the pandemic, State health authorities have decided that the staff of the Hospital de Respuesta Inmediata will have tele-education sessions.

“Hospital-to-Hospital Reinforcing Concepts in SARS-CoV-2”, is the name of the workshops that have already been successfully developed by the determined Dr. Carlos Gomez, Pneumologist of the Inflatable Hospital. Soraida Olvera Garrido, State Coordinator of the Telemedicine Service of the SSH explained that these are two tele-education sessions and that they have already been applied in other hospitals such as the Villa Ocaranza Psychiatric Hospital.

The topics of the course include information and training about: Background and generalities, prevention and personal protection equipment, protective measures and situational diagnosis, operational definition of COVID-19, treatment, outpatient and inpatient management.

This modality of tele-education has been adopted by the SSH to continue training its personnel; however, it is not a strategy that was born this year. This is not the first time that SSH has conducted training aimed at medical and nursing personnel using a distance modality, since in October of last year they held courses and workshops on breast cancer. This also included personnel from Campeche, Durango and Nuevo León.
