During the IX Summit of the Americas, which brought together heads of state and officials from various countries of the continent, achievements and advances in health were presented.
One of the main issues addressed during the summit was the need to strengthen health systems after the pandemic. The Plan of Action on Health and Resilience was even launched at the IX Summit of the Americas. Likewise, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) participated in the Summit to promote health issues on the event's political agenda.
The heads of state and government representatives committed to promoting various health actions such as: Expanding equitable access to quality health services, strengthening the training and education of medical professionals, reinforcing health security in the event of public health emergencies, among others.
Regarding Digital Health, the leaders of the Summit agreed to adopt a Regional Agenda for Digital Transformation, which aims to: Promote the use of digital technologies in the health sector, improve patient accessibility, process efficiency and service provision, as well as strengthen research in biomedical sciences.
On the other hand, the United States announced the launch of the Americas Health Corps o Health Force of the Americas in collaboration with PAHO. Its goal is to train up to 500,000 public health professionals throughout the region over the next five years.
