The Ministry of Health (Minsa), through the General Directorate of Telehealth, Reference and Emergencies (Digtel), received an international award in the "ConectaRSE para Crecer" contest.
The Minsa and Digtel received the award in the State category, given to programs that have a national scope. The award-winning program was the Tele Information, Education and Communication (Tele IEC) service, one of the pillars of the telehealth project in Peru.
The organizers of the awards recognized Tele IEC as a project that brings health knowledge closer to the population using Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) strategically.
Tele IEC is key to conducting distance educational talks on health promotion and the importance of healthy lifestyles. One of its main objectives is the active participation of communities in health care and self-care.
The award has been given in Peru by a telecommunications company for 11 years and seeks to recognize initiatives and programs that strengthen rural communities in Peru. "ConnectaRSE to Grow recognizes each of the private organizations, as well as public entities that seek to positively impact rural areas through the strategic use of ICT", explained the general directorate of Telehealth, Reference and Emergencies, Bernadette Cotrina.
