Google agrees to a new alliance to extend Care Studio, its Digital Health solution

Google forms an alliance with a Digital Health company to promote the development of interoperable tools.

During the HIMSS conference in Orlando, Google Health announced a collaboration with MEDITECH to create an integrated clinical solution. This alliance has as its objective, the combination of harmonization, search and summary data, which has Care Studio, the digital health solution from Google Health and integrate them into MEDITECH's electronic medical record.

Google Health explains that health information is a complex matter, because it is generally stored in different information systems and/or different formats. In this sense, it is a challenge for health professionals to find the necessary information in one place.

Care Studio is a solution specifically designed to solve this problem, its objective is to make it easier for medical professionals to search for information. Care Studio organizes data into electronic medical records and brings data together on a single platform.

Since its launch more than a year ago, Care Studio has added new functions to its system, such as the search for clinical data and notes in scanned documents, the use of Artificial Intelligence for the interpretation of clinical information, the application of natural language among others.

In this way, the alliance with MEDITECH aims to develop solutions that enhance Care Studio tools, such as data visualization from different sources. “This will help advance healthcare data interoperability, building on MEDITECH's vision of a more connected ecosystem. Our collaboration extends to the partnership between MEDITECH and Google Cloud and will use the Google Cloud infrastructure”, explains Google in its blog.

Likewise, Google Health recognizes that the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the need for interoperable systems, such as Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR). However, there are still several challenges for its large-scale adoption. For this reason, they consider that alliances and collaborations with companies such as MEDITECH can promote the creation of more interoperable solutions that facilitate an open ecosystem in health.
