Government of Santa Cruz, Bolivia launches municipal telemedicine program

The government of the municipality of Santa Cruz de la Sierra announced the creation of the Municipal Telemedicine Program to provide remote consultations in different medical specialties.

Santa Cruz de la Sierra is the largest and most populous city in Bolivia, so the municipal government opted for the creation of a telemedicine program to benefit people who have trouble going to the hospital or a medical center for a consultation. . In this way, it seeks to extend the scope of the municipality's medical services.

The objective of the program is to provide access to remote medical consultations to the entire population, and thus avoid long transfers. The program will also have specialized home health care services.

The specialists involved in the program will work in coordination with the three levels of the health system in Bolivia, at the national, departmental and municipal levels. The purpose of this is to connect with populations near the municipality and within the department of Santa Cruz, or even at the national level.

If you live in Santa Cruz, you can access this service through the following number: 800125700.

On the other hand, this strategy also has a monitoring center to provide information and attend to reports from the population on COVID-19 infections, and vector-borne diseases such as dengue, Zika or chikungunya.
