In Peru, health personnel working remotely will attend patients through telemedicine

The health personnel who are performing activities in a semi-presential or remote mode, will provide their services through telemedicine to attend patients remotely.

In response to the National Emergency caused by COVID-19, the Ministry of Health (Minsa) approved the Administrative Directive for the Scheduling of Shifts for Health Personnel and the Assignment of Health Users for Care in Telemedicine Services. In this way, the General Directorate of Telehealth, Reference and Emergencies (DIGTEL), will have the capacity to program the shifts of health personnel who are working remotely and the assignment of patients who request medical attention through telemedicine.

On the other hand, Liliana Má Cárdenas, head of the General Directorate of Telehealth, Reference and Emergencies, explained that the Minsa has made available to the population the telephone line 113 and an information system called Teleatiendo, which is intended to facilitate the work of health personnel who are at home when they are part of risk groups.

The health workers will be informed about the scheduled shifts and the attention through telemedicine must be registered in the Teleatiendo system. There are a total of 850 health professionals who attend through the line 113, and provide care in medical specialties such as nursing, obstetrics, nutrition, psychology, in addition to general medicine.

All health care institutions are responsible for internally managing the staff to determine who will be part of this remote medical care service, so that they are registered nationwide by the Minsa.
