Government of Uruguay sends notifications to mobile phones to alert the population about vaccination appointments against COVID-19

Thanks to the digital technologies implemented during the health emergency, the Uruguayan government has an appointment scheduling system for vaccination against COVID-19.

The Uruguayan Ministry of Public Health (MSP) began sending confirmation messages to some sectors of the population about the date and time they will receive the COVID-19 vaccine, in this case, the third dose. This through its Coronavirus UY application, which has had various uses during the pandemic.

Through the MSP's vaccination monitoring system, the population receives alerts on their mobile phones through Coronavirus UY, when it is time for them to receive the immunization. The MSP reported that there are currently more than 15,000 people scheduled to be vaccinated, however, there are 926,000 people waiting to receive confirmation of the day and time of their vaccination.

Uruguay is applying booster doses, that is, third doses in vaccination schemes that are completed with two doses. The progress of vaccination in Uruguay has been measured and monitored through data systems, in their records they explain that at least 65,28% of the population have already received both doses, and 73,37% have received at least the first.

On the other hand, the Uruguayan government reported in a statement that it has completed the procedures so that foreigners without ID can register in the agenda system of the National Vaccination campaign against COVID-19.
