Avellaneda University in Argentina set up telemedicine center to track COVID-19 cases

The National University of Avellaneda (UNDAV), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health of the province of Buenos Aires has created the CeTeC (COVID-19 Telemedicine Center), to provide medical advice to people who test positive for coronavirus.

The service started operating in July 24, services are provided from UNDAV south campus in Avellaneda. This program is part of the strategic plan of the Ministry of Health of the Province of Buenos Aires to monitor and detect cases of COVID-19 before they infect more people.

Program volunteers are mostly students close to completing their nursing studies, so they are trained to provide medical care. According to UNDAV information, the volunteer team records the patient's data and sends it to the National Epidemiological Surveillance System.

Patients with positive diagnosis will follow up with CeTec-U professionals, since they are daily monitoring their health status to learn about the progression of the virus and rule out complications. In the same way, they will be informed about self-care and recommendations for isolation.

This service seeks not only to provide medical care but to collect data on symptoms, incidence, level of risk and other factors that help the authorities to decision-making.

CeTeC has ten work spaces, so it is possible to provide care to ten patients simultaneously, this service is free for citizens and is offering attention Monday to Friday.
