The application will provide up-to-date information on COVID-19 worldwide, as well as support materials and content against misinformation about the pandemic. It will be available initially in English for Nigeria and more languages and regions will be added over time.
The World Health Organization has released a new mobile application that will centralize all updated content on COVID-19, as well as provide materials that promote healthy habits during the pandemic. The application will be available on a preliminary stage in Nigeria for Android and iOS devices on devices launched from 2011 onwards.
The application also provides users with information on symptoms and how to take care of themselves when contracting the virus. It will also be possible to access global statistics on COVID-19 infections and updates on vaccines and vaccination processes in countries.
Another important feature is that the application will include local information on health institutions and health authorities to keep users up to date. In addition, it has the option of receiving notifications when new local information becomes available. It will also provide information on travel recommendations and preventive measures to be taken into account.
The application is intended to be part of the fight against misinformation during the pandemic, and to dispel myths about COVID-19 that emerge over time. WHO seeks to ensure that users have free access to reliable information at any time.
