Use of Digital Platforms
Digital Health Company, partners with local governments in Colombia to implement telehealth services

This project has managed to position itself as an alternative in Digital Health for the public and private sector.

1Doc3 is a Digital Health project created by Colombian Javier Cardona currently with functions within projects in the public and private sectors. It all started in 2014, when 1Doc3 launched its telemedicine website, in which more than 600 doctors responded to calls from patients seeking to resolve questions and concerns through digital platforms.

Initially, this platform focused on resolving doubts about sexuality. 1Doc3 began working in conjunction with the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF), for the conduct of online advocacy and prevention campaigns on rights, and sex education in adolescents, abortion, suicide and psychoactive substances.

The project evolved from being a web platform to offer a free download application, available on Google Play where it has more than 100,000 downloads, and in the App Store, and also offers its services to companies and insurance companies.

The accelerated growth of Digital Health coupled with the rise of this platform during the pandemic opened up opportunities in the public sector. It currently has the support of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for the implementation of telemedicine projects in some municipalities of Colombia.

In July 2020, a couple of months ago, the implementation of project 1Doc3 began in the municipality of Armenia, capital of the department of Quindío, city that has a population of just over 300.000 inhabitants. For the development of this telemedicine project, 500 doctors and professionals support the provision of services in a virtual way.

This initiative seeks to reduce agglomerations in hospitals and avoid congestion in the health care system. "We have a reality and that is that 70% of medical consultations that are attended by emergencies, are not really vital emergencies and can indeed be attended virtually or by telephone," explained Gabriel Enrique Urrego Arroyave, Armenia's Secretary of Health.

Through teleconsultations, hospitals avoid receiving patients whose care can be performed in a virtual way. This would also prevent possible contagions of eCOVID-19. The services of this project of the Municipality of Armenia and 1Doc3 are free and exclusive to the population of that municipality through the https://espatodos.1doc3.com/enter?next=%2F.

Similarly and also with the support of the IDB, the 1Doc3 project was implemented in the city of Bogota, the capital of the country and the most populous city, however, this alliance only benefits people affiliated with Health Promoter Entity (EPS) Capital Salud: https://capitalsalud.1doc3.com/enter?next=%2F.

The creation of projects involving both private and public sectors for the benefit of specific populations, especially in times of health emergency, demonstrate the great progress that Digital Health has made in Latin America in recent years.
