Use of Digital Platforms
Uruguay launches "my digital medical record" to facilitate access to medical records

Digital Health generates sources and technological tools so that the medical information of each person is stored in a digital file, available at any time to monitor and not lose detail about the activities aimed at improving the quality of health of each citizen.

The Electronic Medical Record (HCE) presented in Uruguay by the Ministry of Health and the Agency for Electronic Government and Information and Knowledge Society (Agesic), is practically available to the total population.

“My Digital Clinical History” is the name that receives this electronic platform rooted by the government through its official website profile.gub.uy.

The method consists of entering and registering through the chip that brings the new digital identity resource, with the aim of verifying the identity of each patient. Once inside, you can access the software interface and, there, you can see the records of each medical visit and treatment performed at any health center.

The application is divided as follows:

  1. My medical history: access and filter all inquiries received by specialty and date (such as imaging, laboratory, emergency, etc.).
  2. Access and permissions: the user can protect his information by having access control to it.
  3. Access history: shows the activity of all those who enter the individual file of each patient.
  4. My Digital Health: presents an instructional of the operation and the characteristics of the system to be able to navigate thoroughly and more easily

The central axes that support this strategy are based on improving the quality of health services offered to patients. In this way, they will be able to have control of their medical experience and organize all their clinical information, allowing interoperability when entering their medical records from any health center (the information is not stored to protect those data, but it is allowed to visualize in any time while the owner wanted it).

Thus, all medical events and activities will be recorded so as not to lose any detail of the individual medical condition of each patient and, both he and his doctor can progress smoothly in the appropriate treatments.

The digitalization of this service engenders the national health system with greater strength, as it protects people's health rights to the point that they are safeguarded by public policies that serve as a bridge for continuous improvement.
