Medicina Conductual Iztacala (MC Iztacala), is a professional psychology team that approaches this interdisciplinary field focusing on groups with different conditions such as stress and depression.
MC Iztacala belongs to the Higher EducationFaculty (FES) Iztacala of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). All members of the team are psychologists graduated from UNAM, who are supervised by Professor Leonardo Reynoso Erazo, Ana Leticia Becerra Gálvez, PhD and Isaías V. Lugo González PhD.
They focus their treatment and psychological care in behavioral medicine, "an interdisciplinary field of research and clinical practice that focuses on the interactions between the physical and social environment, cognition, behavior and biology, in health and disease, involves a comprehensive approach to the patient based on empirical evidence that reveals that behavior can generate diseases, as well as, that diseases modify behavior (Reynoso, 2013)".
MC Iztacala offers its telepsychology services with specialized attention free of charge and has the following approaches for the attention of specific groups:
- Attention to health personnel suffering from stress;
- Attention to patients with stress and chronic disease such as diabetes mellitus or kidney disease;
- Attention to patients with cardiovascular diseases through specialized management for their behavioral management;
- Attention to patients with depression and chronic diseases;
- And adherence to treatment.
In addition, they have handbooks designed for the various groups, for example, the handbook "Living with Diabetes Mellitus: guidelines and suggestions for managing my stress" or the handbook "Living with Chronic Kidney Disease: guidelines and suggestions for managing my stress", are available free of charge on their website. The handbooks have useful information for receiving psychological intervention online.
