Mexico’s Government launches COVID-19 vaccination registration platform for elderly people

Through the Mi Vacuna web platform, the Ministry of Health and the Government of Mexico have initiated the national registry for people over 60 years of age for the application of the COVID-19 vaccine.

For the second stage of the National Vaccination Policy against the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the Government of Mexico announced on February 2 the start of the national registry of adults over 60 years of age. For this the website was enabled mivacuna.salud.gob.mx

To register, it is only necessary to have internet access on a mobile phone or a computer and once inside the platform it is necessary to enter the CURP (Unique Population Registry Code) of the person over 60 years of age and confirm. If you do not know the CURP, it is possible to consult it through the following link https://www.gob.mx/curp/.

After verifying that the data is correct, the user must select the option "Yes, I want to get vaccinated" and then select the federal entity and municipality where they live. As for the address, it is not necessary that it coincide with the one that appears in the official identification. It must be the current address, so that the person is assigned to the vaccination center closest to their home.

In addition, the user must provide a telephone number (it can be personal or that of a relative), so that a server of the nation can contact him, who through a telephone call will provide the date and place of vaccination. On the day of the appointment, it is necessary for the person to arrive at the vaccination center 15 minutes in advance and only with their official identification. Those in charge of administrative procedures will record attendance and health personnel will apply the vaccine.

After immunization, the vaccinated person will go to the observation area for 30 minutes. In the case of vaccines that require a second dose, the nation's servers will contact the people who need it again to indicate the date and place again.

On the other hand, Emiliano Calderón Mercado, coordinator of the National Digital Strategy of the Presidency of the Republic, explained that the vaccination day has required a directory of older adults who will receive the immunization. Two types of strategies will be implemented, one for rural or remote areas where there is no Internet connection, through registration through the Integration Centers for Development and the sending of brigades to carry out the registration. The second strategy for urban and semi-urban areas contemplates the use of the Mi Vacuna platform. In addition, he explained that they also considered the differences between the vaccines, since each one will have different delivery times.
