Venezuela will create a plan for the development of telemedicine

The executive branch of Venezuela announced the creation of a Plan for the Development of Telemedicine in the country, as well as the establishment of a National Telemedicine Center.

The Government of Venezuela has announced the creation of a Plan for the Development of National and International Telemedicine, with the aim of training more and better medical professionals and strengthening patient care.

Within the framework of the National Day of the Comprehensive Community Physician, the government highlighted the importance of telemedicine not only in the diagnosis of diseases but also in the training of medical students.

“A specialist doctor who is in São Paulo can participate in the diagnosis of a disease and in the training of medical and postgraduate students. The best doctor can participate in these processes,” indicated the Venezuelan government.

On the other hand, the National Telemedicine Center is a project that would seek to connect hospitals throughout the country, as well as Comprehensive Diagnostic centers, Comprehensive Rehabilitation Rooms and outpatient clinics.

Telemedicine in Venezuela

More than a year ago, Dr. Rafael Gottenger of the American Association of Venezuelan Physicians explained that in countries like Venezuela, the growth and adoption of telemedicine depends on the population's access to technology.

However, he acknowledged that, in the face of the pandemic, patients have adopted the various platforms to continue remote medical care.
