The National Center for Telemedicine (Cenate) belonging to the Social Security of Peru (EsSalud) has provided around 1.7 million services since its opening more than a year ago.
From opening in October 2020 The Cenate del Seguro EsSalud has provided telemedicine care to hundreds of thousands of Peruvians in different modalities and specialties. For example, in terms of specialized remote care for patients who suffered from COVID-19, Cenate specialists provided 291,438 remote consultations, with the regions of Lima, Junín, Cusco and Arequipa using the service the most.
In this sense, EsSalud policyholders who suffered from COVID-19 received a comprehensive post-COVID-19 treatment package, which included plans for nutrition, psychology, family medicine, rehabilitation, medicine and physical therapy. All these services are carried out remotely thanks to the professionals who work at the Cenate.
Thanks to the remote monitoring of patients, it is possible to know the consequences that the virus can leave and identify persistent symptoms in recovered people. In addition, the therapy aims to recover the patient's mobility and respiratory abilities.
In addition, the Cenate computer equipment allows interaction between professionals who are physically with patients and has the ability to carry out interconsultations with specialists from hospitals in other regions of the country.
The Cenate team consists of 45 health professionals who consult from Monday to Saturday from 8 AM to 8 PM, in this way they have managed to attend more than a thousand daily teleconsultations.
With respect to all the attentions that the Cenate has provided for more than a year of opening, EsSalud has registered around one million 700 thousand attentions for its insured.
