The National Telehealth Program of the Bolivian Ministry of Health reported that it will manage a virtual campaign for the early detection of cervical cancer through teleconsultations.
The National Telehealth Program, through its telemedicine component, is managing a campaign for the early detection of cervical cancer. "This virtual campaign will be carried out in coordination with the gynecology area of the Hospital del Norte in the city of El Alto to provide diagnosis and the conduct to follow through the virtual platform of this program," explained the head of the National Telehealth Program. In this way, patients from populations in the towns of Laja, Taraco, Tiwanacu, Jesús de Machaca, Copacabana, San Andrés de Machaca, Pucarani, Desaguadero, Guaqui, Tito Yupanqui, Tiquina, Puerto Pérez, Batallas and El Alto, will receive specialized care. by teleconsultations.
For the deployment of this campaign, the National Telehealth Program has 12 specialists, who will be in charge of carrying out teleconsultations in real time from the gynecological area of the Hospital del Norte in La Paz.
Likewise, the program will have the application of digital medical records to have complete information on the patients treated.
Detection actions for this type of cancer have been affected since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, which is why the Bolivian government sees the implementation of this campaign as a necessity.
