In Peru, the telehealth services of the National Institute of Children's Health (INSN) treated more than 16,000 children during the first three months of 2022.
Thanks to the INSN telehealth service, they have been able to serve children and adolescents from various regions of the country through the four axes of telehealth development in Peru: telemedicine, telemanagement, TeleIEC and teletraining.
However, it is through telemedicine, where most of the attention to these pediatric patients is carried out, since it involves more medical professionals and patients obtain comprehensive care. In this way, patients receive care in various modalities such as teleorientation, telemonitoring and teleinterconsultation, which facilitates access to specialist care.
In this way, during the first quarter of the year, the INSN attended 3 thousand 293 teleorientations directed by doctors and subspecialists, 5 thousand 108 teleorientations attended by non-medical professionals (nutrition, psychology, nursing, rehabilitation, dentistry, obstetrics and social service).
Likewise, through telemonitoring, they registered 7,236 visits by doctors and 1,349 by other professionals. As for teleinterconsultations, which connect two or more doctors or specialists remotely, 413 were carried out, all by medical personnel from an IPRESS (Health Services Provider Institution).
To access teleorientation and telemonitoring services, the minor's parents can schedule an appointment by calling the INSN or through its website: http://www.insn.gob.pe/
