People infected with COVID-19 will receive telemedicine care in Peru

The Government of Peru reported that people infected with COVID-19, who do not present symptoms, will receive care and monitoring through telehealth.

Due to the increase in cases of COVID-19 in Peru, and with the aim of avoiding further infections, the Peruvian Ministry of Health (Minsa) announced in a statement the new measures for the care of people with a suspected or confirmed case of COVID -19.

In this sense, one of the measures adopted is that people without symptoms and without comorbidities, who have had contact with infected people, will receive teleorientation through line 113. In this way, the Minsa seeks to avoid exposure to the risk of contagion.

It should be noted that telemedicine has been a fundamental part of the public health strategy of the Peruvian government during the pandemic. From the use of line 113 for teleorientation for COVID-19 and special care in mental health, to the development and implementation of care models such as that of the EsSalud National Center for Telemedicine.

On the other hand, the government of Peru reported that people who have some comorbidity and have been in contact with positive cases of COVID-19, must attend a face-to-face diagnosis, to rule out the disease or receive indications.

Finally, the health authorities of Peru called on the population to continue following prevention measures and getting vaccinated.
