The Peruvian Ministry of Health (Minsa) continues to carry out actions to bring health care services to remote regions and connect hospitals and health centers through telemedicine.
The Pampas Hospital, operated by the Minsa, is located in the province of Tayacaja in the Huancavelica region, and will now have a new telehealth unit. This project seeks to benefit more than 104,000 people who live in that area, and also make quality medical care more accessible.
This project was financed in part, thanks to a donation from Electroperú to the Regional Government of Huancavelica. In this way it was possible to enable the hospital with the appropriate technical equipment, so that health professionals can provide medical care through telehealth.
The equipment included biomedical and computer tools, as well as software to create a digital ecosystem that allows professionals to develop these services in different medical specialties. The specialties that will provide services through this modality include: gynecology, pediatrics, pneumology, traumatology, rheumatology, among others.
Liliana Má Cárdenas, general director of the Directorate of Telehealth, Reference and Emergencies of the Minsa, was present at the implementation of the new telemedicine unit, and recognized the effort to strengthen health services offered remotely.
He also recognized the collaborative work between the three levels of government through the Huancavelica Health Directorate, the Tayacaja Health Network and the Pampas Hospital. The collaboration between the governments and Electroperú seeks for telehealth to reach a considerable expansion and offer care to more than 365 thousand people in the Huancavelica region.
