The National Center for Epidemiology, Disease Prevention and Control (CDC Peru) and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) announced the launch of this new virtual program for the control of epidemiological outbreaks at the national level.
The new program seeks to strengthen research on public health events and achieve a better response to new epidemiological outbreaks in Peru. The portal is aimed at the staff of the National Epidemiology Network (RENACE).
The program contemplates its implementation in two phases, first through the virtual self-learning course on the detection, investigation and control of epidemiological outbreaks from the virtual platform of PAHO Peru. The second phase will be coordinated by the CDC Peru, with the aim of strengthening outbreak response teams through practical case simulation workshops and public health events.
The program directed by the CDC Peru, which belongs to the Ministry of Health (Minsa) began its first course on February 6 in the Macro Sur region (Cusco, Puno, Arequipa, etc.), and will conclude on the 26th of the same month.
Subsequently, the courses will continue in the Macro Centro region from February 27 to April 9; Macro Oriente from March 20 to April 9; North Macro from April 10 to 30; and finally in Lima and Callado from May 1 to 21.
