The National Telehealth Program and the Bolivian Ministry of Health and Sports announced the relaunch of the “Tu Médico en Línea” strategy to treat confirmed or suspected COVID-19 patients remotely.
The Bolivian Ministry of Health and Sports announced that due to the increase in COVID-19 infections, the “Tu Médico en Línea” hotline will be made available to the entire population, through the number 800101104.
The National Telehealth Program explained that people who present three or more of the following symptoms can seek care through “Tu Médico en Línea”: Body pain, eye pain, headache, increased body temperature, vomiting , diarrhea, runny or stuffy nose, listlessness, burning eyes, sore throat.
In the event that the patient cannot go to a hospital and his case is mild, he will be assigned one of the 349 telehealth doctors that are located throughout the country, to continue his monitoring and treatment. In this way, the patient will receive individual treatment to avoid complications due to the disease and to avoid going to a health center.
This tool helps citizens to detect some symptoms of the disease in time and to know how to act in the event of a mild or severe infection. The line provides direct telephone advice 24 hours a day, every day of the week, and it is also a free service.
The objective of the "Your Online Doctor" strategy is also to identify suspected cases of COVID-19, and promote voluntary isolation in people who present symptoms of the disease. Likewise, the operators of the line carry out periodic follow-ups to know the health status of the patients.
Additionally, the line provides information on COVID-19, risk of contagion, prevention and tips to avoid contagion.
