The Costa Rican government is preparing the responsible and gradual opening of establishments starting in December, and a key tool is the COVID-19 digital vaccination certificate.
Gracias al trabajo conjunto entre el Ministerio de Salud, la Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social (CCSS), la Comisión Nacional de Emergencias (CNE), el Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE) y el Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovation, Tecnología y Telecomunicaciones (MICITT), el gobierno de Costa Rica establecerá mayor seguridad en el certificado digital de vacunación, a través de un código QR.
The Government of Costa Rica has explained that similar parameters have been adapted to the digital passport system of the European Union (EU), in its digital certificate of vaccination against COVID-19. The QR code can only be validated through the official mobile application, which will be made available to the public for free. In addition, the QR code will also be available for printing.
On November 8, the certificate may be updated with the new parameters for those who already have theirs, by entering the following link and entering the assigned PIN: https://usuarios.ministeriodesalud.go.cr/.
The certificate will be necessary for Costa Ricans to enter restaurants, museums, shopping and entertainment centers, as of December 1, when the gradual reopening of establishments begins. In this way, those who have their complete vaccination schedule will be able to show the QR code so that it can be scanned by the establishments.
“Costa Rica va en la dirección de utilizar la verificación QR o la confirmación de la vacunación, del esquema completo digital para las diferentes actividades y eventualmente, sí, para poder eliminar o reducir restricciones, esa es la dirección en que vamos”, explicó Carlos Alvarado, presidente de Costa Rica.
Until October 12, the government registered more than 1,110,000 certificates sent, with an average of 30,000 digital certificates issued per day.
