The Virtual Health Library (BSV) of Honduras has carried out actions to improve the Library Network, including the renovation of its web portal.
Within the framework of the International Day of Nursing Professionals, a few weeks ago, the VHL Honduras held an event to present its progress, which was attended by authorities from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), professionals from the Autonomous University of Honduras (UNAH). of the National Medical Library (BIMENA), among others.
The new portal of the VHL Honduras presents a new information architecture, and makes it easier to consult specialized information such as the country's scientific and technical literature, national databases, local medical journals, publications and articles, medical theses and other educational resources. Virtual Campus of Public Health.
This strategy responds to Action Plans promoted by PAHO's Latin American and Caribbean Center for Health Sciences Information (BIREME). These plans promote collaborative work and the identification of challenges and potential improvements that help expand access and visibility of information and scientific knowledge in Honduras and the countries of the region.
The renewal of the VHL Honduras stems from the 2020-2022 Action Plan, which focused, among other things, on: mapping the contents of the portal and its sources of information; update your design; configure the service that measures accesses to the portal; configure integrated search; and develop Windows of Knowledge for each country or thematic area.
This Action Plan concludes in December of this year, so in the coming months we will learn more changes in the PAHO VHL.
