Thanks to an investment of 38 million pesos was inaugurated the Digital Unit CAISES May 10 in the city of León.
In collaboration with Carlos Slim Foundation, of the 38 million pesos invested, 2.5 were used for the purchase of equipment. Among the equipment acquired is MIDO (Integrated Measurement for Opportunity Detection), proposed by Carlos Slim Foundation.
MIDO (https://fundacioncarlosslim.org/investigacion-e-innovacion/modelo-casalud-mido/), is a strategy that allows to detect: obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, kidney disease and predisposition to develop type 2 diabetes as well as innovative metabolomic tests to measure the degree of insulin resistance.
In this way, thanks to artificial intelligence systems and big data it is possible to identify these diseases and the level of risk in which the patient is.
For his part, Guanajuato Health Secretary Daniel Díaz explained that more than 55,000 people will benefit from the start of operations of the unit, which will implement digital files for users, which will be categorized into three classifications: healthy, sick and pre-sick.
In addition, he detailed the different health services that the unit will offer, such as the general medicine office, dentistry, psychology, nutrition, as well as exclusive practices for women's health and pharmacy with more than 95% of medicines supplied.
On the other hand, the municipal president of León, Héctor López Santillana, considered the opening of the Digital Health Unit as the first step for the development of telemedicine in León. "Here are the foundations for tomorrow's need to be able to serve our citizens remotely, thanks to technology, thanks to connectivity, thanks to WiFi from here our specialists could serve our people no matter where they live or how far away their colonies are," he said.
The Digital Unit will be led by Dr. Hazael Fernández and will have a team of 70 people for its proper functioning. In addition, it has an online training room and classrooms for infant stimulation and physical activity.
It is important to highlight the collaborative actions between the public sector and organizations that promote new tools and thus improve the health services offered to the population. The CAISES Digital Unit is the first of its kind in Latin America, which projects Mexico as one of the countries in the region with the greatest advancement in Digital Health.
