Telehealth from the University of Caldas in Colombia has benefited 200,000 people since the start of the pandemic

The Telehealth unit of the University of Caldas has served more than 200 thousand people free of charge during the COVID-19 pandemic, offering remote care services such as tele psychology, guidance, and monitoring to suspected cases of this disease.

The University of Caldas through Telesalud, and in collaboration with the Territorial Directorate of Health of Caldas and the Government of Caldas, have managed to reach 200 thousand people benefited through their remote care strategy during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Director of Telesalud, Esteban Granada Aguirre, recognized the work done and collaboration during this health situation: "It is important to highlight the positive figures that benefit the department of Caldas, today we achieve a historical fact, we have cared for more than 200,000 patients throughout the department, thanks to the agreement that was activated since the beginning of the pandemic with the Governorate of Caldas , Territorial Directorate of Health of Caldas and University of Caldas".

Since May, Telesalud had already served more than 50,000 people in the region through the portal specializing in coronavirus: https://coronavirustelesalud.com/It also provides up-to-date information on social distancing measures in Caldas.

Among the attentions offered by Telesalud, are virtual consultations with specialists for the monitoring of symptoms or discomforts. These attentions are made either through digital platforms, through video calls or chat, and also offer telephone service. However, the strategy plans various channels that also include psychological or psychiatric consultations online for free through the Te cuido, psicólogos contigo (I take care of you program, psychologists with you). 

Another axis of this strategy is the weekly online program, which they broadcast every Thursday at 5 pm (Caldas time), in which they address issues of public health interests and general concerns related to COVID-19. On the other hand, Te cuido,which promotes dialogue with health professionals, on health issues, education, nutrition, I enter other topics. In this way more than 200 professionals are guiding users of this platform every day.
