Physical and mental health monitoring plan for older adults will benefit nearly 2 million people in Peru

EsSalud altogether with CAM have taken advantage of digital channels to continue health care for their beneficiaries during the COVID-19 emergency.

After the start of the COVID-19 outbreak in Peru, and the implementation of measures for the prevention of contagion, EsSalud began the program "EsSalud te Cuida” that promotes the telemonitoring via telephone or video call of the health status of users of the Centers of the Elderly (CAM) throughout the country.

CAM has more than 1.7 million of peoples insured, so the program is expected to succeed so older adults can receive remote medical care and stay home.

Through the Senior and Person with Disabilities Central and through the “EsSalud te Cuida” program, at least 1.000 daily monitorings are carried out through video calls, calls and messages on WhatsApp to know the current health of patients and detect discomfort they experience to provide prompt attention.

The Home Care Program (PADOMI), which provides direct home care to more than 50,000 patients, had to modify its work scheme and attend through telephone after the health and social distancing measures were established.

In addition, PADOMI Delivery, a service that since last year offers the delivery of medicines at home less than 72 hours after the medical consultation, also updated its work schedule, because the consultations are remote, so the prescription is issued digitally and the medicines are delivered to the patient's home. According to data from the unit monthly 34 thousand prescriptions are delivered, a situation that has continued during the health emergency.

Another of the actions of EsSalud and CAM was the creation of CAM en Casa a program where virtual workshops are transmitted through YouTube.
