On July 1, the Federal Telehealth Meeting of the Ministry of Health of the Nation was held at the National Network Hospital “Lic. Laura Bonaparte”.
88 network hospitals and health centers from all over the country participated in the meeting, and a new authority in telemedicine and telehealth was presented, such as the National Telehealth Coordination. The mission of this new commission is: "to develop and implement a national and federal public policy, through the use of information and communication technologies (ICT)".
During the event, a recount was made of the results obtained in 2020 by the more than 800 health establishments attached to the Federal Telehealth Network. The network achieved more than 130,000 queries through its platform, an increase of close to 4,00% compared to the 32,000 services provided in 2019.
Another of the achievements of the Federal Telehealth Network in 2020 was the connection with more rural establishments, which expanded coverage and prevented populations in remote areas from making transfers to other health centers.
In addition, in the first half of 2021, the network registered 112,473 interactions and managed more than 50 thousand queries. The network currently has more than 8,000 users registered on the platform, 968 Telehealth nodes, 512 primary care providers, 8 national hospitals, and 24 health programs.
The Federal Telehealth Network attention announced the incorporation of new health programs such as the Mental Health program, in coordination with the National Directorate of Mental Health and Addictions, the Telehealth 3.0 project, together with the National Directorate of Sexual and Reproductive Health in coordination with the Pan American Health Organization; and the Pediatric Teleoncology program, with the National Cancer Institute.
