San Juan province as a point of reference in Digital Health in Argentina

Argentina seek to strengthen the quality of the health system including all sectors of the population that may be neglected due to lack of resources. For this reason, the San Juan Digital Health project was implemented within Universal Health Coverage to protect and ensure better quality in health care.

The evolution of digital health means extensive coverage at the national level of all sectors of the population regardless of their sociodemographic conditions and thus be able to ensure equal access to health systems.

The most vulnerable areas are affected by the distance and times that are spent with the transfer and visit to the health units, because of this, the San Juan Digital Health project stands as a quality carrier and complete and timely medical care for the provinces.

Their goal is to "focus on the person, their family and expand the community in which they live" without neglecting face-to-face consultations and reinforcing their effectiveness in results.

The commitment of specialists to provide the appropriate health services that support all provinces, is stipulated in the Universal Health Coverage (CUS), which ensures that every user receives care, treatment and monitoring of their health status without having to spend or violate their resources.

The following three basic points are derived for the successful implementation of the strategy:

  • Population in charge of family and community health teams: consists of an organization of teams and patient records where each population will have a doctor, a nurse, 4 assistants and an interdisciplinary team (pediatricians, psychologists, etc.) that strengthen the health service.

  • Interoperable information systems and computer applications: such as the Digital Clinical History that leverages the power and innovation of new technologies to improve processes and maintain the care provided to a favorable degree.

  • Improving the quality of care and prioritization of care lines: dividing into specific axes lifestyle care advice into points such as nutrition, sexuality, mental health and other complementary activities to form a complete and satisfactory health guide.

This is how the country continues to work constantly to ensure, in the best way, the access of its entire population to health services.
