Tucumán, Argentina will host the 2023 International Telemedicine Congress

Authorities and health organizations of the province of Tucumán are working on the programming of the International Congress of Telemedicine 2023.

Officials from the Provincial Health System of Tucumán (Siprosa), met with the Ministry of Public Health and TeleHealth coordinators, to advance in the programming of the International Congress of Telemedicine, of which the province of Tucumán will host.

Luis Rocha, general director of Medical Technology at Siprosa, explained that the congress will address topics on telemedicine, medical technologies and will include the participation of international and national panelists. The objective of the event is also to show the advances in telehealth in Argentina in recent years.

The Garrahan Foundation Hospital, one of the most important leading and specialized telemedicine medical centers in Argentina, will participate in the event, exposing the success in the implementation and promotion of telemedicine in the country, through its various projects.

In the specific case of the province of Tucumán, in recent years, the use of new tools for telemedicine and other assistance technologies has been expanded and developed. “This gives us the opportunity to tell the country and the world what we are doing and how we do it. We learn together and share the developments, we are receptive to all the contributions that the most complex centers in the world can make us, which we hope will join us in this international event that will add prestige to us at the provincial and national levels”, explained Rocha.

On the other hand, the provincial coordinator of TeleSalud, María Eugenia López, explained the current and future plans in telemedicine: “The idea is to work on the development of care for future emergencies. Telemedicine has been developed for more than 20 years in the country, although its use was enhanced with the appearance of the pandemic, today all the development that was implemented from the Ministry of Health, leads to continue using this resource applied to other areas and it is something that happened in different parts of the country.”

For this reason, he said it is important that the actors involved participate and attend the congress not only to promote strategies from the health system but also to promote the legislation of these projects and that they have their corresponding legal framework.

"We are a federal country and our health system is federal, under that concept it is essential that this type of health where technology is applied, is available to the entire population, not only in the central area, where there are more possibilities. at a technological level, but also to transfer this to the interior and that its use can be accessed from the first level of attention”, López concluded.
