Startup from Peru develops platform to monitor the health status of students and teachers

The Peruvian startup, Laus, seeks to provide tools so that the return to blended classes is orderly and safe. Through software, Laus can monitor compliance with health measures in universities, schools and workplaces.

Created in 2020, during the health emergency, Laus is one of the participating projects in Startup Peru 8G+, a co-financing contest for startups, which has been promoted by the Ministry of Production.

Miguel Wong, one of the founders of Laus, explained to Agencia Andina that his solution proposes the management of information and documents in the health area, so that it is an organized and effective process.

“They usually use Excel and it's a headache because it has limitations in terms of data visibility and traceability. It takes a lot to organize all the documentation and our system can automate this work so that the health and safety area team can focus on developing strategies,” he explained.

The software was initially oriented to the management of the health area in work centers, however, the developers worked on an exclusive version for educational centers.

“They usually use Excel and it's a headache because it has limitations in terms of data visibility and traceability. It takes a lot to organize all the documentation and our system can automate this work so that the team from the health and safety area can focus on developing strategies”, explained Luis Alzaya, founding partner of Laus.

Laus can be used as a mobile app or directly from its desktop web version. The app is installed on the mobile phones of students, workers or parents, in which they can report their symptoms, update information on medical tests, upload their vaccination card, among other functions. In this way, those in charge of the institutions can find all the necessary information on one platform.

“You can find out, for example, how many people are obese, how many have expired medical exams, the number of people who have undergone COVID tests or who have been vaccinated. The data is filtered by area, by location, age, and gender”, explains Wong.

Additionally, another of the functions of the app is the automatic preparation of documents and reports when an accident occurs, which is sent to the supervisory authorities.

In 2022, the Peruvian startup seeks to reach more educational institutions and workplaces in Peru and begin its expansion to other Latin American countries.
