The government of the State of Puebla enabled the Alerta COVID Puebla option on mobile devices, a contact tracing tool that anonymously informs you if you have been in contact with a positive case of COVID-19.
In April 2020 Google and Apple announced the development of an API system for the detection of COVID-19 cases, which would later be included in the updates of their respective operating systems. In Latin America, the Government of Uruguay was the first country in enabling this technology to alert about COVID-19 infections.
the system Contact tracing tools or contact tracing, works via Bluetooth on mobile devices. Users who have obtained a positive result to a COVID-19 test can decide if they want to notify other users of a possible contact, uninfected users will receive an "Exposure Notification" a message that indicates that they have been close to a positive case .
The Government of the State of Puebla through the Ministry of Health has decided to enable this function under the name Puebla COVID Alert, which requires manual activation from the mobile phone settings.
To enable the Puebla COVID Alert option on Android devices, it is necessary to go to Settings, select the "Google" section and activate the "Exposure Notification" option, select the country and state and accept the terms. Enabling this option requires that the device's Bluetooth remain on.
For iOS devices, it is also activated from Settings, where it is necessary to search for “Exposure Notifications”, and continue the country and state selection process and accept the terms.
This tool does not use geolocation since it is based on Bluetooth, and it does not share data from your Google or Apple account. Nor does it record personal data or send information to external servers since the entire process is carried out from the mobile phone.
As mentioned before, the Exposure Notifications tool is part of an update to the Google and Apple operating systems, so there is no need to download any additional applications. In addition, it does not need Wifi or mobile data to work.
