Advances in digital transformation in health will be presented during the Conectatón

The first edition of the regional Conectatón of the Health Sector in Latin America and the Caribbean, takes place from May 30 to June 1, 2022.

The event's objective is for ministries of health, agencies and government bodies to present their advances in digital transformation in the health sector. The invited countries are Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Colombia, El Salvador, Paraguay, Suriname, Peru and Uruguay, which are also part of the LACPass initiative of the American Network for Cooperation on Electronic Health (RACSEL) and the Inter-American Development Bank ( IDB).

The first stage of the LACPass initiative responded to the need for the exchange of medical data for travelers, through the use of digital certificates of vaccination against COVID-19. This project allowed the coordination of technological tools among decision makers at the regional level, to validate the vaccination data of the users.

The second stage will be implemented during the second half of 2022, and aims to lay the foundations for implementing interoperable systems that allow the exchange of data in public health surveillance. In this sense, the third stage, which is projected for 2023, will seek to create guidelines for the implementation of a cross-border telehealth system and promote the use of the international patient summary (IPS).

LACPass procedures respond to standards developed by the European Union, the IPS, and other standards recommended by the World Health Organization (PAHO).
