Latest updates on the global COVID-19 situation confirms 715 new cases and 156 new deaths.
The Mexican Government through the Secretary of Health and the Undersecretariat for Health Prevention and Promotion issued the daily technical statement of the novel Coronavirus in the world dated February 24.
According to the information, until 9:00 pm on February 24, 2020, 79,331 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported. There are 77,262 cases in China and 2,069 in the rest of the world.
There have been 2,595 deaths in China and 23 in the rest of the world, eight in Iran, seven in the Republic of Korea, four in Japan of which three were on the Diamond Princess cruiser, two in Italy and one in the Philippines and France.
There are 29 countries that have reported confirmed cases of infections spread across five of the six regions of the World Health Organization, Region of the Americas, South-East Asia Region, Western Pacific Region, European Region and Eastern Mediterranean Region. There are no reported cases in the African Region.
China has implemented changes to its protocols for the confirmation and classification of cases, the classification of "clinically diagnosed" has been removed and maintains as classifications only "suspicious" and "confirmed" the latter requires laboratory confirmation for complete accuracy.
InThe Chronic Disease Information System has been implemented in no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in MexicoSuspected cases have been ruled out. A total of 18 negative cases have been registered: one case in Oaxaca, Michoacán, Guanajuato, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas, two cases in the State of Mexico, four in Mexico City and seven in Jalisco, of the latter, two suspected cases were dropped on 19 February, one tested positive for Rhinovirus.
There are currently no cases under investigation.
The following prevention measures are recommended:
- Wash your hands frequently with soap and water or use 70% alcohol-based gel.
- When coughing or sneezing, cover your mouth with the fold of your arm or use a tissue.
- Don’t touch your face, nose, mouth and eyes with dirty hands.
- Clean and disinfect commonly used surfaces and objects in: houses, offices, closed spaces, transportation, meeting rooms, etc.
- Stay at home when you have breathing conditions, got to the doctor if any of the symptoms occur (fever higher than 101°F, headache, sore throat, runny nose, etc.).
