Chile launches remote mental health care program for health system officials

Undersecretary of Assistance Networks of the Ministry of Health of Chile launched the comprehensive remote Mental Health program for officials of the public health network.

The new platform is incorporated into the comprehensive mental health program and the Digital Health strategy that has been implemented nationwide. The Remote Mental Health strategy will benefit the officials of the public health network. In this way they will be able to access exclusive and quality psychological care, from any location.

The platform receives phone calls or video calls made by mobile phones and the attention will be provided by the Mental Health cell of the Digital Hospital. The Undersecretary of Assistance Networks, Fernando Araos explained that “since we arrived in March, we have detected a really important problem that is related to the mental health of workers. We know that this has been increasing as a result of the pandemic and the strenuous work they have had to do in the last two years, both in primary care and in hospital establishments.

In addition, he explained that the undersecretary has the responsibility to take charge of the strategies that take care of the mental health of health workers and to facilitate access to this type of service.

The strategy cannot be understood without the support of the Digital Hospital, since it will provide psychological care from Monday to Sunday available to any health worker who needs it.

On the other hand, Ricardo Ruíz, president of the Unitary Fenats, explained that this process represents “a historical claim not only to serve users, but also to be served. I believe that the gesture of the Ministry and the strength of the unions have allowed this claim to become a reality and we call on all the workers in the country to have confidence in this platform”.
