Peru defined technical guidelines for the implementation of telehealth in new establishments

The Ministry of Health of Peru (Minsa) has defined the technical requirements for the equipment that will be used for the development of telemedicine in different health establishments.

On the 17th, Ministerial Resolution No. 081-2022-MINSA was published, which contains detailed information on technical information including data and specifications of technical equipment such as computers, printers, screens, videoconferencing equipment, among others.

The resolution aims to “approve the technical specifications of the basic equipment for the development of Telemedicine, the list of health facilities to be implemented with the teams of telemedicine, "as well as the national equipment goals," he explains.

In this way, certain Health Service Provider Institutions (PRESS) were selected to be equipped with equipment and furniture for the exercise of telemedicine. One thousand and sixty-six health facilities will benefit from this new provision by the Ministry of Health.

In this regard, healthcare facilities (IPRESS) in the regions of Lima, Amazonas, Apurímac, Callao, Cusco, Ica, Piura, Puno, among others, will have services of telehealth.

The Resolution explains that 355 laptops with webcams, 355 laser printers, 388 videoconferencing systems, and 388 monitors were acquired. This will ensure that remote services have the necessary equipment to carry out their work. telemedicine, tele-monitoring, teleconsultations and tele-interconsultations with specialists from other hospitals.

The next step is to train healthcare professionals, technicians, and support staff in the development of activities related to remote healthcare. This will be the task of the National Network of Telehealth, to continue strengthening remote care strategies in the country.
