Health system in Mexico have benefited with new technologies by including online medical appointments to save time and distances.
Thanks to Digital Health, the mechanism previously used to schedule medical appointments, get medical advice, ensure treatments or follow-ups of health status, have become more efficient and it helps to save resources.
Nowadays, influenced by new technologies, medical appointments are being replaced by teleconsultation at the distance via internet connection.
Jorge Fuentes Vega, marketing specialist, said that 18% of people connected to internet, have done at least one online medical appointment.
People can receive medical attention via text messages or video calls, as mobile devices allow an immediate connection and avoid untimely or unnecessary transport.
It is also possible to create a social media platform, where each member can give advice and knowledge about treatments and diseases, to raise awareness of their problems and to be able to take control of their treatments following their pace of life.
Groups that provide medical appointments become a quick and effective alternative to target certain information that helps fighting diseases or pains, that may become generic remedies when treated as general symptoms.
Currently, the Estate Workers Security and Social Services Institute (ISSSTE), has 174 teleconsulting equipment which speed up procedures in different specialties.
In addition, these new options available by Digital Health, will not remove the need to attend to conventional medical appointments, since both options have their pos and cons and complement each other.
