Use of Digital Platforms
The implementation of the Digital Hospital in Chile advances, linking people through mobile apps

Chile takes advantage of its telecommunications service and internet connection to launch mobile applications that work through digital platforms, which provide more accessible solutions to the patient.

The “Digital Hospital” project - launched by the Ministry of Health in Chile - provides new mobile applications to serve as digital platforms aimed at meeting the needs of people in terms of their health condition and quality of life.

This strategy was created with the aim of improving the quality of public health services throughout Chile through innovative functions that provide real-time solutions, such as scheduling medical appointments from a cell phone.

It also has the objective of making a universal coverage that bridges the access gap and allows all Chilean areas and communities to acquire the benefits of digital health and the new technologies that accompany it.

Now, thanks to the use of apps that are downloaded from the internet to any mobile device, it is possible to save time and transfers and monitor health status through detailed analysis.

The main applications that the Digital Hospital offers are:

  • Rescare: it works to obtain medical attention at a distance and in real time to avoid loss of time in transit. It also have the option to schedule urgent appointments or transfers in advance already assigned.
  • Digital Clinic and Teledoc: the software allows teleconsultations to be made through video calls via internet. At the end of the medical appointment, a summary of it and a medical prescription are received electronically to be downloaded and delivered to any pharmacy to obtain the indicated medication.
  • Horalibre: it’s a system that works to find free time in different clinics in the area to obtain a safe place and set aside a consultation; The software requires the information of the person - who will be protected - to track the institutions with greater availability.

According to the Ministry of Telecommunications of Chile (Subtel), eight out of ten Internet accesses in Chile are made through mobile devices, representing 85% of total connections.
