This agreement, aims to create Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based virtual assistants aimed at remote treatment and improving patient engagement.
The Dutch company Phillips announced on Monday, March 29, a collaboration agreement with Orbita Inc., a company specializing in the development of conversational AI solutions and other tools for healthcare. The collaboration will enable the creation of next-generation technologies around conversational virtual assistants for mobile applications and other healthcare tools.
Orbita has been involved in the creation of medical technologies, chatbots, voice assistants, mobile health applications, among others. It is considered a leading company in Digital Health innovation, specifically in that related to voice and chat virtual assistants, which seek a level of personalization that approaches human care.
“With the acceleration in the adoption of telehealth during the COVID-19 pandemic, AI-enabled voice services, virtual assistants and chatbots are already playing an enabling role in driving 24/7 access to healthcare, enhancing patient engagement, and improving clinical efficiency”, explained Henk van Houten, Chief Technology Officer and Head of Philips Research.
Phillips explained in the announcement that AI has the potential to improve people's quality of life, and when applied to healthcare it has the opportunity to promote healthy lifestyles, prevent disease and improve the diagnosis and treatment of illnesses.
Finally, Nathan Treloar, President and Chief Operating Officer at Orbita, explained hat it means to collaborate on Digital Health projects with companies of the magnitude of Phillips: “We are extremely excited to be expanding our partnership with Philips, one of the largest and most innovative digital health technology companies in the world”, he explained.
