Apple devices will enable the sharing of health data with family members and physicians

This feature was announced during Apple Day two months ago and it will allow users of these devices to share medical data generated by their devices with a medical professionals or family members.

Apple announced the addition of this new health data sharing feature, allowing users to be in control of the data that the device itself generates.

This will allow users of Apple's mobile devices to securely share their data with people of their choice. “This will allow users of Apple's mobile devices to securely share their data with people of their choice. "This past year has emphasized the importance of health, and we’re enabling our users to take a more active role in their well-being. We’ve added powerful features that give users the most comprehensive set of insights to better understand their health trends over time,” said Jeff Williams, Apple's chief operating officer.

This new feature comes through an update to its Health app, which includes a new tab for private sharing of data of the user's choice. "Users have full control over which data they share and with whom, whether they’re an aging parent who shares their activity or heart health data with a family member, a partner who chooses to share their fertility window insights, or a person with Parkinson’s disease who wants to share their mobility data with a physical therapist," Apple explained in a press release.

The Health app, shows trends on 20 types of data, such as resting heart rate, sleep, cardiovascular data, exercise minutes, among others. In this way, the physician can review the data in the app for his or her patient through the electronic medical records system.

Another of the application's new options includes the monitoring of insulin administration through the connection of external devices.
