University of Buenos Aires presents new Digital Health course

The course will address topics such as ethical dilemmas in Digital Health, digital transformation, protection of individual and mass data in health, and others.

The University of Buenos Aires (UBA), in Argentina, through its Law School, introduced the first postgraduate course in Digital Health, to complete or continue the academic training of professionals. It is a 128-hour distance education program entitled: "Update Program in Digital Health".

The Health Observatory of the above mentioned faculty, presented the course as an option for training and education on the various current issues within the medical and healthcare sector and digital transformation.

The aim of the program is: "To develop a new professional profile aligned with the new trends in the Digital Health sector and its transformation, emphasizing the analysis of the topics from a holistic and interdisciplinary approach," as described by the UBA on its official website.

The agenda of the postgraduate program is made up of 13 modules:

  1. Digital Health introductory aspects
  2. Ethical Dilemmas in Digital Health. Ethical Principles in Digital Health.
  3. Damages and liability derived from the use of Digital Health and Health Technologies.
  4. Digital Health and its Components.
  5. Telehealth as a component of the strategy of health care and digitalization. Health team and patients training.
  6. Electronic and digital prescription. Training for the medical and pharmaceutical activity and related disciplines.
  7. Electronic/Digital Health Records.
  8. Individual and mass data in health and its protection.
  9. Health apps.
  10. Artificial Intelligence applied to health.
  11. Virtual reality, robotics and innovative devices in health.
  12. From patients to digital health citizens.
  13. Healthcare organizations and digital transformation.

The study plan includes four practical workshops on the contents of each block of modules. From module 1 to 3 is the first workshop; from module 4 to 7 is the workshop that addresses topics such as telemedicine, electronic medical records, and strategies for digitalization of health services; from module 8 to 11, the workshop on data protection and more advanced technologies; and from module 12 to 13 the last workshop on digital transformation.
