Mexican Social Security Institute launches online course platform

At the end of March, the Mexican Social Security Institute enabled its CLIMSS platform with online courses for beneficiaries and the general population.

CLIMSS (Massive Online Courses of IMSS) is the name of the new platform, which is focused on promoting new online education strategies, and according to data from IMSS It has the capacity to support one million people.

Cynthia Rosas Magallanes, head of the Training and Development Division of IMSS, He reported that the platform has a very positive margin for improvement since the goal is to offer coverage to 60 million people through ICTs.

Rosas Magallanes also explained that each course has a different duration, ranging from 10 to 40 hours. “Since the courses are automated, management, monitoring, and feedback are provided through the platform, and there is a technical support team that responds to any technological problems participants may encounter,” she explained.

The platform initially offered seven courses on general topics and a course called “Everyone Against Coronavirus,” which, following the COVID-19 emergency, was updated and divided into three parts. The three new courses focus on disease prevention, caring for older adults, and actions against the novel coronavirus at home.

The platform currently has 10 courses aimed at the general population, which are listed below:

  • All about COVID-19 prevention
  • Home action plan for COVID-19
  • Care for older adults before COVID-19
  • Preparing for retirement
  • Caregivers of the elderly population
  • Taking control of your pregnancy
  • Taking care of your heart: a course for people with high blood pressure
  • Oral health in diabetes
  • Everything about safe mobility
  • The ABC of Obesity

 

 Regarding specialized courses for healthcare professionals, the following are included: COVID-19 Disease, Management of COVID-19 Patients in the ICU, and two courses on Care and Comprehensive Child Development in Daycare Centers IMSSPedagogical actions in daycare and The role of daycare centers in comprehensive child development.

In addition, the head of the Training and Development Division of IMSS, He stated that it is expected that some of these courses will have academic accreditation by the end of this year.

They are currently working on courses that they hope will be available before the end of the first half of the year, including: Lifestyles and Diabetes, Healthy Living: Taking Care of Your Mental Health, and Workplace Health. IMSS and Early Childhood Development I and II.

To register, you must access the CLIMSS portal (http://climss.imss.gob.mx/) and complete the registration form. Upon completion of a course, the portal will activate the option to download a certificate of completion.
