On December 9, the ministerial resolution on the National Plan was published. Telehealth and the Minister of Health in Peru, with the aim of contributing to improving the population's access to health services in Peru, through the use of information and communication technologies.
The Ministry of Health of Peru (Minsa) approved the National Plan of Telehealth 2020-2023, to contribute to the development of the public health system and promote access to technologies that serve the health of the population.
The document of Ministerial Resolution No. 1010-2020/MINSA mentions that article 103 of the Regulations of Organization and Functions of the Ministry of Health, establishes that the General Directorate of Telehealth, The Referral and Emergency Department is the line agency of the Ministry of Health, under the Vice Ministry of Health Services and Insurance, responsible for formulating and implementing the policy of telehealth in the Health Sector, in addition to implementing technological infrastructure based on interoperability for the coordination of services Telehealth through the use of information and communication technologies (ICT).
The National Plan of Telehealth, Liliana Má Cárdenas, Director General of the General Directorate of [unclear], presents a project focused on offering better quality health services and achieving greater reach through technology. Telehealth, The Referral and Emergency Department highlighted the importance of this first National Plan for Telehealth which aligns with the Integrated Health Networks.
The plan includes the creation of standards for best practices telemedicine, Therefore, the intention is to create clinical guidelines and clinical management tools to guide strategies toward the same objectives at the national level. Another action proposed by the Ministry of Health is to include subjects in Telehealth in the curriculum of higher education in institutions that train health professionals.
The plan was drawn up by a committee that included the directors of the General Directorate of Telehealth, Reference and Emergencies, General Directorate of Insurance and Service Exchange, General Directorate of Health Operations, General Directorate of Health Personnel, General Office of Information Technologies and General Office of Planning, Budget and Modernization of the Ministry of Health.
