Digital Health Canada, to reward ten women recognized as leaders in Digital Health
Digital Health Canada is a non-profit organization focused on promoting the growth of health technologies with a focus on professional development. They specialize in topics of health computing, mobile health, digital health and medical practices that relate to these terms.
Digital Health Canada announced the names of the ten women who were recognized as Leaders in Digital Health in 2020. The Women Leaders in Digital Health Award was created by this organization to celebrate each year the achievements and projects of ten women who through digital technologies achieve a change in the transformation of health and health care systems.
The winners and their projects are as follows:
- Lynda Brown-Ganzert, CEO of Curatio, the world's first medical prescription social network, that connects doctors and patients to share medical information.
- Heather Chalmers, CEO of General Electric Canada, who incorporated a health and safety protocol to protect the company's more than 4,500 employees in Canada.
- Dr. Allison Crawford, a mental health specialist through digital media, who is head of the Virtual Mental Health department at the Center for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto, Canada. Through the strategies implemented, they were able to provide access to virtual implementation services in mental health.
- Laura Desveaux, a virtual care scientist at Women's College Hospital Institute for Health System Solutions and Virtual Care in Toronto, Canada. Desveaux established the Women Who Lead volunteer network to support women in health care areas.
- Dr. Patricia Lingley-Pottie, president, executive director and co-founder of Strongest Families Institute, who manages all aspects of the institute including the area of innovation and technology.
- Jennifer Quaglietta, Vice President, Performance Excellence and Information Services, Healthcare Insurance Reciprocal of Canada (HIROC), where she has successfully designed and managed various health care initiatives locally, regionally, and nationally.
- Eva Serhal, Senior Director of Virtual Mental Health, ECHO, and the Canadian Suicide Prevention Service, Center for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). She brings their expertise to CAMH processes in their virtual mental health strategies.
- Dr. Gillian Strudwick, an independent scientist, who also works at CAMH. She has published more than 60 studies, many of them on the advancement of digital health in the area of mental health and addictions.
- Gillian Sweeney, Vice President, Clinical Information and Leadership Programs for Change, Newfoundland and Labrador Health Information Center (NLCHI). Leads Digital Health programs and clinical information programs, thanks to the provision of virtual health services through telehealth.
- Barbara Veder, Vice President and Leader of LifeWorks Clinical Services, Morneau Shepell. Also, expert in digital mental health and leading medical entrepreneur in the clinical sector especially in the development of digital clinical services.
