The implementation of the Metropolitan Fiber-optic Network in an argentine province advances to connect health system

The government of the province of Corrientes, Argentina presented progress on internet connection in hospitals and Primary Health Care Centers (CAPS).

Argentina and its provinces continue their progress in Digital Health, presenting its Fiber-optic communication network for the Metropolitan area, which aims to connect all health centers in the province thanks to a more efficient internet connection.

In the City of Corrientes, the Network is now operating in all hospitals and is expected to connect all health centers and CAPS in the province by March 2020.

One of the main objectives of the Network is the digitization of public health, in this way telemedicine and Digital Health tools such as distance patient care or digital medical history will be implemented. In addition, it also offers data admission, image transmission, laboratory data and drug stock, all in real time.

The minister of health, Ricardo Cardozo, emphasized the importance of the digitization of public health services: "by 2020, we can no longer work with paper, we have to go to the modernization of the health system".

Finally, Federico Ojeda, subsecretary of Information Systems and Technologies, explained that one of the three major axes of the province's government is the modernization of public health.
