Amazon will provide telemedicine services to U.S. companies

Through the Amazon Care application, the U.S. company will provide telemedicine services to its employees and employees of other companies in the United States.

A year and a half ago the company launched Amazon Care, to provide medical care for employees and their families. This service allows employees to establish a chat or video connection with a medical professional through a mobile application (iOS and Android). Amazon Care consists of two components: first, virtual care through the application and second, physical care through doctors who visit the employee at home.

Now, the US company, leader in the web services sector, has announced that starting in July it will offer Amazon Care telemedicine services for all its employees in the United States. During the 18 months that Amazon Care has been in operation, it had only offered the services to its employees in the state of Washington. In addition, they announced that they will offer the services to other companies located in that state. The expansion plans for this modality of care will begin in Washington D.C., Baltimore and other cities.

The primary care services they offer are COVID-19 and influenza screening, vaccinations, treatment for wounds or illnesses, sexual health, prescriptions, medication delivery, among others.

“Amazon Care to launch across U.S. this summer, offering millions of individuals and families immediate access to high-quality medical care and advice—24 hours a day, 365 days a year”, the copany explained in its blog.
