Province in Argentina presented its Digital Health strategy

Health authorities of the province of Chaco, in Argentina, presented their Digital Health strategy that includes an investment of 1,400 Argentine pesos, for staff training and equipment purchase.

The provincial Digital Health program of Chaco seeks to modernize the health system and improve the wages of health workers. For this, it has a strategy to integrate digital technologies into the current technology ecosystem, therefore, the next two years the provincial government will make an investment of 1,400 Argentine pesos to improve equipment, staff training, connectivity, among others. aspects.

“The technological modernization of the system is essential, so that patients can request shifts without leaving their homes or make a virtual consultation. Centralized electronic history is vital because it will serve to generate statistics and apply public policies appropriate to the needs”, explained Jorge Capitanich, governor of the province.

In addition, he added, the purpose of technology is to facilitate the work of health personnel so that they can spend more time with their patients, and less time on paperwork, bureaucracy and searching for information. In this sense, he explained that they will reorganize the health system to facilitate access to public health.

The application of the strategy will be carried out in three phases, the first from 2021 to 2022, the second from 2023 to 2024 and finally from 2025 to 2030. The innovations it presents are the digital medical record, the patient portal, the comprehensive management system for results for health centers, tool for emergency management and health referrals, expansion of the telemedicine network, epidemiological surveillance and monitoring dashboards, expansion of connectivity of health establishments, early warning system for births and the artificial intelligence development.

On the other hand, the strategy presentation event also laid the groundwork for the training course on Digital Health and Strategic Information Management. This course began on May 26 to end on June 29. This cross called "Digital health as an enabler of the transformation of the health system", seeks the training of more than 500 workers in its first year. "The idea is to help the health team to generate new skills to take advantage of the full potential of the new tools of the program," explained the Minister of Health, Carolina Centeno.

Through these courses, it is expected that in 2023 the 50% of the public health establishments of the Chaco will provide telemedicine services. "We think it is very important that the investment announced by the province in equipment, software and new digital tools be accompanied by a process of evolution in the work modality, for which it is necessary to incorporate new concepts and skills that this course will provide," he concluded. Minister Centeno.
