Province of Buenos Aires presented the Digital Health program

The government of the province of Buenos Aires in Argentina, presented the Buenos Aires Digital Health program, to integrate all health establishments into a unified information system.

The government of Buenos Aires and the provincial Ministry of Health presented the Buenos Aires Digital Health program, whose objective is to integrate the province's health establishments into an information system. One of the purposes of the strategy is to address inequality in access to health.

"We have integrated our health system, which already has unique referral and clinical record schemes, working in coordination with all subsystems," explained the governor of the province of Buenos Aires. This program will incorporate collaborative and open source tools for patient management, appointment scheduling and medical history consultation.

Likewise, through the collaboration between Buenos Aires Digital Health and the National Ministry of Health, the Integrated Health History (HSI) will be implemented. A program that will be incorporated into provincial health systems throughout the country in state organizations and other health establishments.

“We have made a very large investment to promote a root change, which implies not only digitizing but also modifying deeply rooted customs and behaviors,” explained Governor Axel Kicillof. In this sense, he explained that the implementation of this new program is necessary to overcome challenges in terms of staff training and distribution of health system resources.

On the other hand, the provincial health minister, Nicolás Kreplak, stressed that the digitization of the health system will promote structural changes to achieve a fairer and more equitable health system.
